GeoLuminari
Applications in Progress
We are proposing the GeoLuminari - a shade structure with geometric laser cut roof and a vintage lighting grid. The idea is to create a 10'x10' pergola with a laser cut paneled roof. As the sun shines through the roof, it provides both shade and a beautiful shadows for festival goers to sit beneath. At night, a grid of 25 vintage bulbs hang from the pergola-like structure. The bulbs are programmed to twinkle and fade majestically into the night.
Our goal is to create a space that is mystical and magical - but also earth bound. We want to create a space for festival goers to escape the sun in a unique way, something other than a 10x10 tent or the colorful spandex sails sails that saturate the festival scene. As the festival goes dark, we wanted to create a space to find peaceful light in the magic of the night. This structure is meant to facilitate meditation, friendly gathering, and creative childish imagination. Transporting you to a world where colorful LED lights do not yet exist. A simpler quieter time that arguably better facilitated genuine face-to-face human interaction. A time where we all would gather around the quiet hum of the vintage lamp and share stories and dreams.
